Keep Your Gums Healthy From Now
Whenhealthy - Gingivitis, or inflammation of the
gums can lead to more serious gum disease. If left untreated, gum disease can
lead to infection and loss of teeth.
Dental hygiene is the best way to prevent gum disease and maintain
healthy gums.
The annual dental examination is very important, but daily
treatments should also be considered to reduce the buildup of plaque and
prevent from gingivitis.
Here are some steps to keep gums healthy:
1. Do not smoke and maintain a healthy diet
Tobacco can cause gum disease, but healthy foods such as
vitamin C and E can improve immunity and help prevent infection.
Keeping stress levels will also boost the immune system.
Avoid eating too much sugar because it causes cavities.
2. Do not grind your teeth, especially when sleeping
See your dentist if the problem is severe. The dentist may
recommend a protective mouth to prevent the bad effects of the grinding.
3. Brush your teeth for two minutes at least twice a day.
More ideal if you always brush your teeth after eating.
Hold the brush at an angle of 45 degrees from the gum line.
Clean all surfaces of the teeth gently, then brush to the palate and tongue.
4. Use dental floss to clean between the teeth. Hold the
floss between the front and back teeth to resemble the letter 'C'.
5. Rinse the mouth with an antiseptic mouth rinse for 30
seconds to remove food residue and plaque.
